A local soldier shot during the Fort Hood rampage was in stable condition Friday.Justin Johnson was shot once in the chest - the bullet pierced his right lung - and once in the foot, according to the Rev. Daniel Hurlburt, pastor of the Church of God of Prophecy in Punta Gorda. Johnson underwent surgery and was on a ventilator to help him breathe, Hurlburt said.

Hurlburt was with Justin's mother, Roxanne Johnson, on Thursday night when she first heard from the military, he said.
Johnson has a brother, Jordan, who goes to FGCU. His father died some years back.
"It's been rough, very rough, on her," Hurlburt said of Roxanne Johnson. "She was on the phone with him when it happened. She heard everything - the shouting, the gunfire. She heard the phone drop."
Justin is a former high school football player in Port Charlotte and regularly attended church. Hurlburt described Justin as a "gentle giant."
"He's an exceptional young man who was very involved with the church," Hurlburt said.
Justin Johnson was preparing to go to Afghanistan when he we shot.
Roxanne Johnson, who declined to comment earlier Friday, was scheduled to fly to Texas on Friday night.
