NJ fans head to NYC for Yankees parade

Saturday, November 7, 2009

NEWARK, N.J. - Thousands of boisterous Yankee fans clogged Newark's Penn Station as they took trains to the World Series ticker-tape parade.
The crowd was so heavy that NJ Transit sent staff from its nearby headquarters to direct passengers.
Sarah Hoolihan says she and her husband Kevin are "psyched." The lifelong Yankee fans say they can go to the parade because they're both unemployed.
Allen Roxby says he forgot about the parade. The 47-year-old Union Township resident was headed to New York City for a replacement passport.
NJ Transit spokesman Dan Stessel estimated the crowd easily in the thousands.
NJ Transit is adding six trains to its normal service to get people home after the parade, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
