California had a dreadful night against Oregon State. Bears had their third conference loss in six games. However none of the losses were worse than the spectacularly painful exit of star running back Jahvid Best.
Best, who defied the laws of gravity and paid a very hard price on the Bears only relevant score of the game: Best jumped high to score a touch down and landed heavily on his back, the force of the impact threw his helmet off. Best remained on the ground for a long time, ultimately being taken away on a stretcher with an oxygen mask over his face.
The early reports indicates he does have feeling in all his extremities and is apparently suffering from a concussion. It makes for a nice picture, if he’d somehow picked himself off the turf.
