Ann Jillian
October was nominated as Breast Cancer Awareness month. Many organizations campaigned to raise funds for the ongoing research into the lethal malignancy. What could be a better way to raise the awareness about the disease than highlighting the brave survivors? Ann Jillian is among one of them. She is actress, singer and everything that can be called showbiz. A remarkable career spanning 5 decades and yet she has not only fought with the breast cancer but also became a mom afterwards. As Oklahoma shops sold pink flamingo models to collect funds, a few of the flamingos were “Ann Jillian Flamingos” with the photographs of the actress over them.
Ann Jillian’s career took off at the age of six and she has countless appearances in different T.V. programs. She has done some 25 T.V. films. However if you want to see what Ann Julian is made of than her film, “The Ann Jillian Story” should be your choice. The autobiographical movie brought out the best of the actress. Film won two Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe Award. 1988 movie brought the message of hope for thousands of women suffering with the disease. Ann has been nominated for another Emmy and a Golden Globe Award. Although she has not won these awards, she is proud that she is second to the accomplished “Ingrid Bergman”
Ann Jillian’s multi faceted showbiz career includes her singing talents also and she has sung the songs of a movie made on the life of “Mae West” apart from acting in the movie.
Ann Jillian is a motivational speaker and her message is clear that breast cancer is not a death sentence; it’s rather a matter of attitude and battling the disease with positive mindset.
