http://blog.zap2it.com/ithappenedlastnight/karinasmirnoff_aaroncarter_dancingwiththestars_s9_290.jpgthe Week 8 results of "Dancing With the Stars" was extra padded with Michael Buble, Susan Boyle, the return of Sabrina Bryan, Dance Center plus a big elimination.

The show kicks off with Len explaining away why they chose Joanna Krupa & Derek Hough's Futuristic Paso Doble for the encore instead of Mya & Dmitry Chaplin's perfect-score receiving Disco Samba before seeing the actual dance.

Next, hosts Tom Bergeron and Samantha Harris throw it to the leaderboard rundown before already giving some results. But not before somewhat lengthy celebtestant reviews for each couple. After all that ado, sadly Joanna & Derek are in the finals. SIGH. I wonder

In an odd change of pace, we're just now seeing the recap from last night. We're then treated to Michael Buble performing his new single "Haven't Met You Yet" while Jonathan Roberts, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Anna Trebunskaya, and Cheryl Burke dance. I do enjoy the Buble - I'm a sucker for Big Bands and he's got a lovely voice.

After a backstage interview, Tom reveals that Mya & Dmitry are also safe. Yay! They pan to the remaining couples and Aaron looks very worried.

Now for our first official bit of filler, it's the return of DanceCenter. Jerry Rice, Kenny Mayne, and Len reviews each celebtestants' pluses and minuses. Stacy Keibler makes a guest appearance as a location reporter (namely backstage). Always amusing if not outright funny.

For the Macy's Stars of Dance bit, we finally see the results of the Create-A-Dance segment. It's Sabrina Bryan with Mark Ballas (no big surprise there) wearing a tiger-themed costume for their Paso Doble to "Eye of the Tiger." That...was really, really good. Her early elimination is at the top of my list of dance show travesties. Next season, I'd really like them to do an All-Star edition and give celebtestants like her a second chance.

Michael Buble returns after a commercial to sing his version of "Feeling Good." I find there are few people who perform this song well, though many try. I couldn't catch the names of the pro couple who danced over the roar of the audience when Tom said them, but they were awesome.

kellyosbourne_louisvanamstel_dancingwiththestars_s9_290.jpgWith only three couples left, the next couple safe is the last one...and it's Donny Osmond & Kym Johnson leaving Aaron Carter & Karina Smirnoff and Kelly Osbourne & Louis Van Amstel under the Red Light of DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM.

Next up, Susan Boyle sings "I Dreamed A Dream" for the first time on US television. While it's not the best version I've ever heard, she did a good job with an iconic song. Tony Dovolani & Chelsie Hightower accompany her with a very acrobatic routine - lots of lifts and splits and fanciness.

DanceCenter returns to finish out their celebtestants breakdown. Also, through some random shenanigans involving an old-school electronic football game (with moving players), they've predicted that Mya will be this season's winner.

Now we're down to business. Tom and Samantha do their whole lead up to announcing who's been axed...and then Tom goes to commercials. Louis clearly says a bad word and I totally agree with the sentiment.

So, after a final torturous commercial break, Aaron & Karina have been eliminated. He immediately goes over to hug Kelly before joining the hosts on the floor. He thanks the judges and says he's learned a lot, taking it very well though obviously disappointed. Len then takes a moment to say a lot of complimentary things about him, including that if he were Aaron's father he'd be extremely proud.

I have to say that I'm disappointed that he's been eliminated if for no other reason than I can see the super hard work he puts in. Plus I think he's had tremendous personal growth over the weeks.
