Marine Corps Celebrate 234th Birthday On November 10

marine-corpsNov.10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) United States Marine Corps, who have always abide by an unwritten policy, “Never Leave A Man Behind”, completes 234 years on 10th November, 2009. As the USMC completes one more year, different types of celebrations are planned by the Marines to mark the day. Marine Corps Birthday Ball has always been a major attraction of the day and this year, “Hilton Guam Resort and Spa” has been selected as the venue of the birthday ball. Sources stated that the ball will be held on 13th November, Friday. It has been indicated in the press release that anyone from the Marine community can attend the celebration by purchasing tickets available at Pacific War Museum.
Celebration to mark the 234th Marine Corps Birthday, has been planned in Lawrence too and around two hundred Marines are expected to be present for the occasion. Marine Corps Mobilization Command’s assistant chief of staff, Col. Ivan Glasco would grace this occasion as the keynote speaker. Mobilization command’s chief of staff, Col. Stephen D.Waldron, earlier scheduled for this occasion, will not be able to attend as he needed to attend a Marine’s funeral. Every year, celebration is held at Lawrence and is attended by several people belonging to this community. One of the Marine veterans, Erv Hodges referring to the Lawrence celebration said, “It’s short. And it’s a remembrance.”
US Marine Corps, who are engaged in the war-fronts of Afghanistan and Iraq, will also mark this significant day in the history of Marine. The Marine Corps birthday is an important event for all Marine Corps and Marines in different parts of the world will celebrate the event in their own way.
