The number “11″ has great significance for Armistice Day because it ended the World War 1 at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. Due to World War II, The same day was lofted to higher stature as the day to pay homage to all veterans of the U.S. But on the same day of 11 November, people of the U.S are celebrating the day as a holiday to “stop”, commemorate and rejoice the services of the soldiers who have put their lives on stake for the country.
Now the celebrations include the sentiment to "stop" them from fighting anymore. Now the people are excited and eager to end the war in Iraq on this special veterans or Armistice Day. "It sucks when someone is away at war," said Emily Keehn. She is a student who had the experience of accompanying soldiers at war in a boot camp. She was of the view that the relatives of the soldiers constantly remain in stressful anxiety about their love ones because they don't know what is actually happening there. Going to war is going to bombing for them and they always remain in a state of apprehensions about them. So Armistice Day pays homage to all these stressful moments of the warriors as well as their family members.
